What God Set Forth, Let No Man Taketh Away!!!
It's a story to be told here, how can an ex-street hustler become one of the most perennial, sought after photographer in the city? It surely wasn't by design, or was it? It certainly wasn't my plan but it might have been the Lord's plan. And what the Lord plans for you let no man take it away. I never would've thought in a million years that I would become a photographer. I won't divulge too much information (gotta save it for the book) but those who know me, know I have a musical background. I was part owner and chief operator of the world famous HOTTBOXX STUDIOS. I found one of my old hard drives from the studio and I was in awe. My client list was in the hundreds. If you were serious about music through 2009 - 2014 then you probably been to the BOX. As much as I loved recording music and mixing/producing music, it wasn't God's plan. Most of us realize our gifts early on. It's a pro and con to this. The longer we do some things the quicker we burn out sometimes. By photography coming into my life at this age, it has open up a whole new world to me. Being involved in music and writing, it always had a creative element to it. And the creator is my mind. Even though we changed hustles, the hustle didn't change me. My brain is still creating. When I going to a shoot, I'm thinking what can I do to set me apart from 80% of the photographers? What rule can I break in an artistic way to make somebody say, hey that's not right but it's cool. In life you have to play the hand you were dealt. When I first started photography I had NO paying clients. And I personally knew some good photographers in the city who I looked up to and still do. So in my mind I'm thinking, how can I compete with them? You might change hustles but you never change your hustlers spirit. Not digging deep into my marketing, I looked at myself as the rebel of the photography game. My influence in the music game and street culture was also an asset to me. Not to mention being a southern gentleman and a charmer, I was able to convince a lot of females who I knew to let me do baby showers, children lifestyle & things of that sort early on just to get my name out there. The same as when I captured the ears of the city with my music and my sound, I am now capturing the eyes and the hearts of those with my photography ~ The Mechanical Eye
